The WHILDE School
Board of Directors
Jessica is the Founder and Headmaster of the WHILDE School.
Ever since Jessica was a young woman, She dreamt of offering comfort to ALL children with learning challenges of ANY kind. School was never easy for her, and It often made her feel bad about herself. Jessica remembers those days thinking how much she disliked school and disliked how they treated her.
Today she realizes her dream through the eyes and hearts of each of the school students.
Nathan's first experience with the Whilde School was when his wife started working there as an Academic Coach in 2019. He was impressed with the mission of the school and how they also treated staff like family. He began working on the Whilde School Board in May 2022.
Nathan is familiar with multiple financial tools, including but not limited to BudgetTracker.com, Mint, YouNeedABudget, etc. He currently works as an electrical/computer engineer for a defense contractor out of New Hampshire.
When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, camping, ATV riding, and working in his workshop.
Michaela lives in Cumberland with her husband and two children, who are 8 and 5. We discovered the Whilde school during the start of the pandemic, and our son attended their school program and also a private tutoring program. We were quickly very impressed with Jess and her staff.
Since our son left the school, I felt I still wanted to stay connected to the Whilde school as I feel very passionate about their method and the work they do. Professionally I work as a coordinator at Woodfords Family Services in the Behavioral Health Homes Program and work closely with families who have children with Autism, ID, and mental health difficulties.
Shauna started working as a tutor for Whilde in 2019. She fell in love with The Whilde School and its approach to teaching. After working in a public education setting for ten years as a Special Education Teacher, Shauna joined the Whilde School as a teacher in 2021.
She loves the holistic approach that Whilde takes when helping children learn; she believes this whole-child approach is the best. She continues to work at The Whilde School as a tutor, Specialized Educational Coach, WHILDE Method Administrator, and Virtually WHILDE Teacher.
When she is not teaching, she enjoys being with her family, hiking, camping, working on projects for her family's sign business, Special Education Advocating, and hanging out with the over 50 animals on her farm.
Garreth is an Emergency Physician at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He is also the parent of a Whilde School student since it opened. In his spare time, Garreth enjoys being active outdoors: running, biking, skiing, or hiking with his family. Garreth believes that kids and all people respond best to a caring, emotionally supportive environment that fosters positive interactions and that kids do best with more individualized attention. These qualities are what make Whilde School Special.
